Overgrowth by Parker Fitzgerald

Parkers Fitzgeralds series 'Overgrowth' is an artistic collaboration with florist Riley Messina
The series was inspired by a pursuit of beauty, expression of the multifaceted relationship between humankind and nature.

The images are so clean and beautiful which is why i love them. The lighting is very soft and natural which makes them look as though there is no manufactured lighting, just the natural light around them. Side lighting is used in many of these photographs but very subtle, not harsh.

I love these images and want to use them as inspiration as,although i am studying to get into the fashion industry, i secretly have this dream to be a florist. I love the beauty of flowers and to be able to work with them everyday and create beautifully made bouquets would be an amazing thing to wake to do everyday. I hold alot of plants and flowers in my room as they make me feel happy and keep the summer vibes going in my bedroom throughout the year.

Refined Idea

My idea is photographing in the style of fashion photography (using a soft box and a white studio) but i want to photograph like you would a magazine spread, doing a personal profile. The personal profile would be about myself but the photographs would not be of myself. The photographs would portray the story of myself as a fashion student and my ultimate goal to make it into the fashion industry. I would use location as my personal space (my bedroom) and use the studio to create different environments that can help portray my personality as a fashion student. Ive taken inspiration from Kinfolk and Frankie magazine as inspiration for photo compositions and layout. I am also inspired by the soft lighting and clean photographs that are with in the magazine. The images are very 'dreamlike' and simple to create a very serene environment.

Ryan James Caruthers

Thinking about the brief and how both location and studio has to be used,it made me think how i can photograph both but keep my idea and theme cohesive with in a set of images. This young New York Photographer Ryan James has created this amazing collection called the "conscious' and i love the weird and quirky way he has moved from the studio into the forest by created a sort of landscape on his models back using nature.

Personal Objects

These photographs taken by anonymous people. Not photographers just people taking photos of there 'stuff'. The 'stuff' that we have with and around us are personal things that we value. These things are personal to us and they can express who we are as a person.

Research/Ideas

Objects or people?
=people are more interesting to shoot although
you have to rely on another person when doing
your assignment.

=shooting a person i personally think i would have
more ideas of themes etc

=i would like to you use my major (fashion) in
photography this year so i potentially would like
to photograph like a look book or collection etc.

RESEARCH  OF  IDEAS

SELF DISCOVERY: A profile of my self and my journey towards the fashion industry.

I love the magazine 'Kinfolk' which i read online as i love the design aspect to the magazine. The layout of text and image with a minimalist feel is what makes the magazine so appealing to read.

INSPIRATION: Kowtow (wellington Design Label) Obsessive Minimilist Collection

Using Fashion Designers look book shoots as inspiration for my photos, shows link towards the fashion world.
